Golden German Foxtail Millet
Golden german foxtail millet is used primarily for hay production. The stem is fine and will reach a plant height of approximately 30” given adequate moisture. Expect to cut hay 50-55 days after planting. Windrow when heads begin emerging from the boots. Plant 20-30 lbs. per acre and for best emergence when soil temperatures are 55-60 degrees.
White Wonder Foxtail Millet
White wonder foxtail millet is used primarily for hay production. The stem is not as fine as Gold German Millet but it will get taller in height, approximately 36” given adequate moisture. Expect to cut hay in approximately 50-55 days after planting. Windrow when heads begin emerging from the boot. Plant 20-30 lbs. per acre when soil temperatures are warm, 55-60 degrees for best emergence.
Siberian Foxtail Millet
Siberian foxtail millet is an early maturing foxtail type adapted to the Northern Great Plains. It requires approximately 60-75 days to harvest. Early maturity is its strong point as the plant is shorter and it is not a heavy yielder. Siberian is the most commonly grown variety in the northern Great Plains. It is early maturing and extremely hardy and drought resistant. Siberian makes good quality hay that can be cut in 40-50 days. Seeds are orange and yellow in color.
Sunrise White Proso Millet
Sunrise white proso millet is used primarily for grain production but can also be hayed or chopped. The plant is a medium height that is approximately 24” given adequate moisture. Expect grain maturity around 65-75 days. Plant 20-30 lbs. per acre when soil temperatures are warm, 55-60 degrees for best emergence. Grain yields could be around 2,000 lbs. per acre.
Horizon Proso White Millet
Horizon proso white millet is used primarily for grain production but can also be hayed or chopped. The plant is a medium height that is approximately 24”. Expect grain maturity in 60-70 days. Plant 20-30lbs. per acre. Soil temperatures at planting should be 60°F Horizon has good straw strength.
